Latest
stable
version
4.4.10

Features
FIDOGATE Version 4 features:
  • Fido Internet Gateway
  • Fido Zone Gateway (NetMail zone gate)
  • Fido Tosser (mail processor)
  • Fido Ticker (file processor)
  • Fido Areafix and Filefix

FIDOGATE does not include a Fido mailer, but co-operates very well with ifcico, BinkD, and supports DOS / WIN / OS2 mailers with a BinkleyTerm-style outbound in a network.

Availability
Platforms

FIDOGATE is available as Standard-C source code under the GNU General Public License. It can be compiled on Linux (of course! ;-), most UNIX systems, OS/2 (emx GCC port), MSDOS (DJGPP GCC port, not tested lately!), and WIN32 (Cygwin).

The development releases may not support all platforms, in particular compiling under MSDOS, OS2, or WIN32 may not work. Linux is the best supported platform, because that's where development work takes place.

The Perl script language is heavily used for FIDOGATE scripts, so the Perl interpreter must be installed. Perl is available for allmost all UNIX systems, OS/2, MSDOS, and WIN32 (Perl for WIN32).

Packages
Ready made source and binary packages exist for the following operating systems:

Fedora Core Linux
An easy to install RPM build for Fedora Core is available here. It includes a sample configuration for a FIDOGATE point system.

NetBSD
FIDOGATE software runs on NetBSD, with an easy to install package at comms/fidogate.

FreeBSD
There also a port of FIDOGATE for FreeBSD (of course ;-).

Releases

FIDOGATE version numbers are based on the scheme

major.minor.patchlevel

where an even minor number indicates a stable release (e.g. 4.4.0) and an odd minor number indicates a development release (e.g. 4.3.0), very much like the Linux kernel.
